A New Baby Arrives at Treasures of Africa!

Baby John Joseph the day he arrived at TOAIn the midst of all the tragedy and bad news on the airwaves, we are thrilled to share the GOOD NEWS of another abandoned baby RESCUED and brought to Treasures of Africa to receive loving care and a new lease on life.

This 6 week old infant, was found abandoned a few weeks ago and left in a plastic bag like trash. After several weeks of recuperation at the local hospital, he was brought to Treasures of Africa Children's Home where he was welcomed with joy and love.

We are naming this new baby - John - which means "Jehovah has been gracious; has shown favor." And we feel like he has been favored of God and so have we - to have him join the Treasures of Africa family! Such joy he has already brought to the house!

Like all our children, baby John will need a sponsor (or a few) to help cover the costs of formula, diapers and staff to care for an infant 24 hours a day.

If you would like to become a monthly child sponsor for Baby John - you can choose your level of sponsorship - $30, $50, $100 or $120 per month which is the full sponsorship. Or consider getting 3 of your friends or family members to join you by each sponsoring at the $30 level and together you can share the joy of covering this precious "treasure" with loving care at Treasures of Africa Children's Home. What a beautiful Christmas gift - being part of rescuing an abandoned baby and helping him start his new year surrounded with loving care and security! Welcome and Merry Christmas baby John!

A Baby Named HOPE

A new baby joined the Treasures of Africa family. An abandoned two day old infant found in the bush went from unwanted to cherished in a single day. What a difference a day makes!

One of the privileges we have at TOA is being able to choose a name for these precious treasures when they come to us without one. We take that responsibility quite seriously and we pray for God to reveal the identity He has for that child. We named this beautiful baby girl "HOPE" because we believe she will be a great encourager and "hope-giver" to other people during her lifetime. Please pray for her health and well-being as this tiny baby grows in the loving atmosphere of her new Treasures of Africa family.

We are happy to report that Hope has been blessed with a second new beginning as she was adopted by a loving family in January of 2018!

From Sorrow to Blessing

baby barakaWe can only imagine the anguish of a young mother in Africa who feels she cannot adequately care for her newborn son. Her desperation must have been overwhelming to do what she did on that day. Perhaps she was a single mother with no money and no extended family to help her. We don’t know for sure. All we do know, is that she bravely carried her bundled child to a local church in Moshi, Tanzania and stood in a prayer line. After waiting for a while, as a visiting Bishop prayed for those who patiently stood in line, she asked a nearby woman if she would hold her baby for a moment. Then she disappeared, leaving a bag of baby clothes and her child, in the arms of a stranger.

Lucy Created Her Own Video!

Missionaries Vince and Vicki Welch work with our kids at Treasures of Africa doing tutoring each week. When 12 year old Lucy expressed a desire to learn how to make a video, Vince volunteered to teach her the ropes of working on the computer to put together a simple video. She made a video about her life at Treasures of Africa. We thought you would enjoy seeing TOA through Lucy's eyes!
